Phil Hanson

Innovative and original trumpet player, free-improviser, composer and producer. Equally comfortable playing in Jazz, Blues, Rock, Pop, Hip-Hop or any number of other musical environments from his base in South West France.

Phil plays in various bands and collaborates with a wide range of musicians from around the world, to bring his unique sounds to the stage and recordings. An experienced performer, recording artist and remote-session musician, Phil uses guitar effect pedals and other fx plugins to create a unique sonic soundscape which stands him out from other trumpeters.

Phil’s musical education was received in the classical and orchestral world and he spent many years in the 1990s as a playing member of the world famous Brighouse & Rastrick Brass Band. Notable performances from that era include winning the 1997 British National Brass Band Championships at the Royal Albert Hall, and recording several albums, the highlight of which was recorded at Abbey Road Studios.
